Session Prep Guide!

  • Choose the Right Location: Tampa offers a variety of beautiful locations for engagement sessions. Choose a place that reflects your personality as a couple, whether it's a beach, park, downtown area, or a specific landmark.
  • Coordinate Outfits: Wear outfits that complement each other without being too matchy-matchy. Consider the location and season when choosing colors and styles. Avoid busy patterns that may distract from your connection.
  • Bring Out Your Personalities: Think about incorporating elements that showcase your personalities and interests. This could be props, activities, or even specific locations that hold sentimental value.
  • Consider the Lighting: Natural light is often the best for photography. Plan your session during the "golden hour" (early morning or late afternoon) for soft, flattering light. Be open to the photographer's suggestions regarding the best time for your chosen location.
  • Professional Hair and Makeup: Consider getting professional hair and makeup done for the session. It can enhance your natural beauty and add a polished look to the photos. This is especially true if you're planning on using the engagement photos for announcements or invitations.
  • Relax and Have Fun: Remember that the engagement session is a time to capture your love and connection. Try to relax, enjoy each other's company, and have fun. Authentic moments often make for the best photographs.
  • Communication with Your Photographer: Discuss your vision, expectations, and any specific shots you have in mind with your photographer beforehand. Clear communication will help ensure that you're all on the same page and that you get the shots you want.
  • Bring Props: Consider bringing props that have sentimental value or represent your relationship. This could be anything from a blanket or a picnic setup to items that showcase shared hobbies.
  • Be Flexible: Be open to spontaneous ideas and changes during the session. Sometimes the most candid and beautiful shots happen when you're just being yourselves.
  • Review Sample Poses: Look at family photo poses or styles that you like, and share them with your photographer. This will give them an idea of your preferences and help guide the session.

  • Iron and Lay Out Outfits:
  • Make sure your chosen outfits are clean, ironed, and ready to go. Lay them out the night before to avoid any last-minute stress. This includes accessories and shoes.
  • Double-Check Prop Items:
  • If you're bringing props, double-check that you have everything packed and ready to go. This might include signs, blankets, or any other items that hold significance for you as a couple.
  • Get a Good Night's Sleep:
  • It's important to be well-rested for your engagement session. A good night's sleep will help you look and feel your best. Avoid staying up late or engaging in activities that might leave you tired.
  • Stay Hydrated and Eat Well:
  • Stay hydrated the day before and the day of the session. Also, have a balanced meal before the shoot to keep your energy levels up. Avoid foods and drinks that could potentially cause bloating.
  • Relax and Pamper Yourself:
  • Take some time to relax and pamper yourself. Consider a soothing bath, skincare routine, or any other activities that help you unwind. A relaxed mindset will contribute to more natural and joyful photos.
  • Review Your Shot List:
  • If there are specific shots or poses you have in mind, take a moment to review them. Share your ideas with your photographer so they can incorporate them into the session.
  • Communicate with Your Partner:
  • Discuss the details of the session with your partner and make sure you're both on the same page. It's important to be comfortable and relaxed, so communication is key.
  • By taking these steps, you'll be well-prepared and able to fully enjoy the experience of your engagement session photoshoot. Remember to have fun and cherish the moments you share with your partner during this special time.
